DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP

At Evolution Wheel, our R&D for airless motor grader tires targets the real demands of road building and site prep. We are engineering segmented structures that hold grade under heavy blade loads, keep lateral control on crown and slope, and run cool on long passes. Lab and FEA work set ride and stiffness targets, while compound screening boosts cut resistance and cold weather reliability. Prototypes move through drum, impact, and curb tests, then into fleet trials that track finish quality, vibration, fuel use, and wear. Insights flow into faster field service, recyclable materials, and a launch path that lowers total cost without sacrificing precision.

INITIATION & SCOPING

PROBLEM FRAMING & REQUIREMENTS

Define real grader use cases and clear targets. Capture loads by axle, speeds on-road and off-road, articulation limits, and service goals. Turn this into a PRD with KPIs, cost envelope, and key risks.

PHASE 1

CONCEPT DESIGN & VIRTUAL VALIDATION

Choose the segmented architecture, interlocks, ring system, and compounds. Use CAD and simulations to predict strength, heat rise, contact pressure, and lateral stiffness. Iterate until the model meets safety, stability, and durability margins.

PHASE 2

PROTOTYPE BUILD & LAB TESTING

Build early segments and rims with prototype tooling to verify fundamentals. Test load, durability on a drum, lateral scrub, cut and chip, torque retention, balance, and corrosion. Use results to refine geometry, compounds, and service procedures.

PHASE 3

FIELD TRIALS & DESIGN FREEZE

Install sets on graders across gravel, pavement, and snow routes. Log temperatures, wear by segment position, scalloping tendency, shimmy, braking, and stability while windrowing. Freeze the design once KPIs and operator feedback confirm readiness.

PHASE 4

INDUSTRIALIZATION & SUPPLY CHAIN

Move to production tooling and lock process windows for molding or casting, curing, coating, and inspection. Set SPC on critical dimensions and qualify suppliers for elastomer, reinforcements, and fasteners. Prove capability and cost with pilot runs.

UPCOMING
PHASE 5

PRODUCT LAUNCH

Release SKUs with load and speed tables, torque and installation guides, and dealer training. Monitor warranty and telematics to drive compound tweaks, tread updates, and cost reductions. Feed lessons learned into the next revision while sustaining quality.
